The Superintendent told trustees that liability insurance currently prohibits opening the weight room to the public without substantial additional coverage and cost. "I did contact her liability insurance agency, and they were like, heck to the heck no right now," the Superintendent said, indicating the district would face "tens of thousands of dollars annually" to add the necessary coverage. He suggested possible future options, such as selling passes or designing supervised classes, if the district can identify a financially viable, insured model.
Trustees asked the administration to create a transparent schedule that gives priority to school teams and community-education programs with residual times available for residents. A board member proposed a public schedule or QR code at the facility entrance so residents can check open-gym or track availability.
The board took a voice vote and approved the field house access for district residents; no roll-call vote was recorded in the audio.
