The Clintondale Community Schools Board authorized three vendor contracts: a roof restoration bid awarded to Lutz Roofing Company for $27,420 (to be paid from general funds, including a $5,000 allowance), a skylight restoration contract with Designers Mirror & Glass for $48,530 (paid with ESSER III federal grant funds, $5,000 allowance), and renewal of the district's food service management contract with Southwest Food Service Excellence for the 2024–25 school year (effective 07/01/2024–06/30/2025).
The roof award followed detailed questions from board members about bid solicitation, the scope of work and warranty coordination with the roof manufacturer. An architect from Wakeley Associates explained that the scope for the roofing work addresses standing-water drainage near the high‑school art-room roof and that the roof manufacturer will participate in warranty coverage after drain installation. A board member initially withdrew a motion to award while seeking clarification; after the architect explained the manufacturer involvement and separation of skylight scope, the board passed the roof contract 7–0.
On the skylight work, board members asked whether the contractor was the same company used previously and whether union workers would be employed. The architect said the prior company is no longer in business and clarified that, although ESSER III does not require a union contractor, federal prevailing-wage rates (Davis-Bacon or equivalent) must be observed for grant‑funded projects; the contractor acknowledged compliance. The skylight award passed on a 7–0 vote.
The food‑service contract renewal also passed 7–0. Board members were told the renewal covers the 2024–25 school year and is in effect from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.
Next steps: Administration will execute contracts, monitor compliance with prevailing‑wage and warranty terms, and ensure ESSER III reporting requirements are met for the skylight project.
