Saco School Board approves stipends, accepts resignation and advances several policy first readings

The Saco School Board approved multiple personnel actions and advanced a set of policy first readings at its Jan. 11 meeting.
Board members voted 7–0 to approve stipend contracts for Lindsay Gerard (Ski Club) and Erin Mears (tabletop gaming) for the 2022–23 school year. The motion to approve stipends was made, seconded and approved by roll call.
The board also voted to accept the resignation of Shaylyn Dreypulcher, effective at the end of the 2022–23 school year. The motion to accept the resignation passed 7–0.
On policy, School Board Member Johnston moved to approve the first reading of several policies, including the superintendent job description (CB), nondiscrimination/equal opportunity and affirmative action (AC), harassment policies (ACAA, ACAB and related regulations), recruiting and hiring of administrative staff (GCFB) and family and medical leave (GBN). The roll call vote approved the first readings unanimously, 7–0.
Separately, the superintendent noted the district's previous budgeted assumption of a 3% increase on private tuition and explained the DOE's announcement of a larger increase. Administrators said they will review budget lines to offset the tuition revenue shortfall and report back to the finance committee.
No additional personnel appointments were finalized at the meeting; the board placed executive session on the agenda later for labor contract negotiations and returned with no reportable action.
The board adjourned at 9:12 p.m.
