District installs PowerSchool IEP/504 alerts; staff report 81 active cases across schools

District staff described a new PowerSchool plugin that allows non-stigmatizing IEP and Section 504 alerts and gives teachers access to recommended accommodations.
"We now have IEP showing up on, in PowerSchool... I did find a company ... that creates plugins for PowerSchool... and now, they can create alerts for kids, for IEPs, 504s," Chris said, describing the technical fix that replaces an older custom page.
Jenna added that the board had asked about cost: "I believe it ended up being $1 per student this year and next year it's 50¢ per student." The staff also provided counts: 81 students total receiving IEP/504 accommodations (33 at the high school, 23 at the middle school, 12 at the elementary school and 7 at the primary school), with three anticipated referrals and six inactive cases noted in the transcript.
Board members were not recorded as taking additional action on these items during the meeting; staff said they will be presenting workshops for staff to explain differences between special-education services and Section 504 services in coming days.
