Sergeant Ortulli of the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop M Bethlehem, presented the township’s annual public-safety update and summarized crime and traffic data and operational activity.
Ortulli said East Allen had 752 calls for service in 2024 and 764 in 2025 through the first three quarters. He said crashes overall and crashes with injury or death are down; the township had zero fatal crashes so far this year. Criminal-investigation counts and arrests were reported (73 investigations this year vs. 80 in 2024, with 28 arrests), and drug investigations and thefts were detailed in the presentation.
Ortulli described a recent August stabbing that remains under investigation and said investigations sometimes stall when victims or witnesses do not cooperate. He highlighted interagency enforcement with neighboring Bethlehem and Allentown and the DEA, noting recent arrests, drug seizures and firearms recovered. Ortulli emphasized local outreach efforts such as community events and encouraged residents to submit confidential tips via the state police website or by calling the local barracks.
The sergeant also described Flock automated license-plate cameras and how they provide real-time notifications when a plate of interest passes a camera; he recommended certain signage to help enable enforcement on private properties. He answered board and resident questions about camera cost and setup, availability and data flow.
Ortulli closed by offering local contact details for emergencies and nonemergencies and welcomed questions from the board and audience.
