The Lucas City Council voted unanimously on Feb. 19 to authorize purchase of real property at 215 Country Club Road, a parcel immediately north of the fire station, to support future municipal services and facility expansion.
City staff told the council the property owner approached the city after a recent house fire and negotiations produced a contract in process; the council authorized encumbering funds not to exceed $1,050,000 from general fund reserves to account 11‑899‑100 (capital outlay — land).
Mayor and councilmembers discussed the parcel’s proximity to existing city holdings and its potential for future municipal use; no motion to amend the purchase price or terms was made at the meeting and the motion to approve passed unanimously.
