Governor's office presents bill to preserve Stone Mountain Park boundaries and tighten inventory rules

Lorena Seba, speaking to the committee on behalf of the governor, introduced House Bill 1415 (LC 650069EC). She said the bill preserves the original boundaries of Stone Mountain Park as initially intended and gives the Stone Mountain Memorial Association flexibility to responsibly manage non-core properties located outside the park’s original footprint.
Seba told the committee HB 1415 requires any acquisition or disposal of real property by the Stone Mountain Memorial Association to comply with procedures set out in Georgia code, and it also requires full compliance with state inventory and filing requirements to ensure a complete inventory of property owned by the association.
A committee member asked whether the bill applies only to Stone Mountain and not to other state properties such as Jekyll Island. Seba confirmed the bill does not affect Jekyll Island and said the language was included to make that explicit.
The measure was presented for placement on the supplemental calendar; no formal vote on the bill itself was recorded during this meeting.
