During the Sept. 2 meeting the commission approved Board of Equalization corrections for two primary residences, moved to correct a double-taxation on a state-assessed parcel and accepted routine vouchers and minutes.
A presenter told the commission that Kenneth McDonald’s primary residence had been incorrectly taxed as a secondary residence and that the assessed value should change from $258,810 to $142,345. The presenter said the same error affected Darnell Crapo’s property, reducing the assessed value from $878,210 to $500,285.
A commissioner moved to approve the BOEs as presented; the motion was seconded. The transcript records commissioners indicating assent by voice.
Staff also raised a separate parcel issue (Parcel 9014717) that appeared to be double-taxed because two different invoices referenced the same land — one tied to a state-assessed parcel and another to the same parcel under a different invoice number. Staff said the parcel sits partly on tribal ground and partly on state wildlife land and is under a mining claim; they requested the tax adjustment to prevent notices from being sent in error. A commissioner moved to approve that tax adjustment; the transcript records the motion but does not include a formal roll-call tally in the provided segments.
The commission also moved to accept the minutes and seconded the motion. Later in the meeting a commissioner made a motion to go into closed session for a pending, reasonably imminent mitigation matter; the transcript records the motion to consider closed session and a subsequent motion by “Commissioner Jack” to adjourn.
Next steps: staff will record and implement the BOE adjustments and correct the state-assessed parcel records; the commission scheduled follow-up items for the Sept. 15 agenda.
