DeKalb County commissioners approved an interlocal agreement with the City of Auburn to provide sweeping services for the county's 9th Street annex.
Staff (Speaker 5) said the agreement had been drafted and reviewed by Auburn's attorney and by county department heads who operate in the annex. "This agreement has been reviewed by and put together by Andrew and by the City of Auburn's attorney," the staff member said, and recommended the board move forward to improve building security and maintenance.
Commissioner (Speaker 3) moved to approve the local agreement and Speaker 1 seconded. Commissioners briefly discussed how to pay for the service, noting courthouse security as a potential account; one commissioner said the sheriff had said the building was not his to secure. The chair called for the voice vote and the motion carried.
Staff noted department heads in the annex had reviewed the arrangement and that department leaders asked for extra sweeps after an incident affecting probation and extension-office users. The board authorized the county to sign the agreement and directed staff to coordinate scheduling and billing details.
The commission then moved on to other agenda items.
