Commissioners approve payroll, claims, contracts and several routine items
Summary
At its March 20 meeting DeKalb County commissioners approved payroll and claims, accepted Purdue Extension service agreement, a pharmacy addendum, a Johnson Controls contract, DART pass-through certification, API Construction bonds and authorized Bridge 75 final plans.
The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners handled the meeting's consent and contract items in a series of voice votes.
Routine business: the board approved payroll and claims, accepted minutes and accepted the January Sunny Meadows county home report. The Purdue Extension annual service agreement and a communications/pharmacy addendum to the Genoa Pharmacy contract (adding Microsoft Teams messaging/HIPAA safekeeping language) were approved.
Contracts and infrastructure: the board approved the Johnson Controls service agreement for correctional facilities despite concerns staff raised about one-sided terms; commissioners said the county has limited leverage with that vendor. Commissioners also certified DART will keep the county as a pass-through entity for grant dollars rather than become a direct recipient.
Infrastructure items: staff presented payment and performance bonds from API Construction totaling $1,736,931 for the Community Crossings matching grant project, which commissioners accepted for the record. The board authorized Butler/Fairman & Seifert to proceed with final Bridge 75 plans (not to exceed $43,500) and directed highway staff to include a performance/payment bond requirement in covered-bridge bid specifications.
All motions passed by voice votes during the meeting.
