Commissioners agreed the stronger riveted option was worth the additional cost to avoid frequent replacements and moved to accept the higher bid. The motion passed by voice vote; the superintendent will proceed with the purchase and scheduling of installation.
The county plans to fund the unplanned replacement from the bridge fund by shuffling project priorities and monitoring delivery and installation timelines; the superintendent said he expected delivery within about 30 days but would provide updates.
