Committee approves temporary donor-recognition panel for Colorado150 commission

The Capital Building Advisory Committee approved a proposal to display a temporary, movable donor-recognition panel produced by the America250/Colorado150 Commission to honor individual donors during the sesquicentennial commemorations.
Katie Roche, program director for the commission, presented a mock-up and said the panel would be fully movable (hidden casters) and funded by the commission through grants and individual donor support. Roche said the commission planned a donor recognition period from Aug. 1, 2026 (Colorado Day) through Aug. 1, 2027 and would work with History Colorado on long-term curation if items were to be retained.
Committee members asked questions about text authorship and avoiding corporate-style messaging; Roche said the goal is to highlight individual and family donors and that History Colorado would be consulted. The commission clarified the installation would be temporary and movable after the year.
Representative Clifford moved to approve the donor recognition installation and allow modest modifications to keep the installation consistent with the Capitol’s tenor; the motion was seconded and passed with no objection recorded on the voice vote.
Next steps: Commission staff will finalize dimensions and materials and coordinate with Capitol staff on placement and casters to ensure the panel does not interfere with janitorial or event operations.
