The Parks and Recreation Committee received an update Feb. 23 on long‑running plans for a disc‑golf course at Yellow Banks, after staff reported confirmation from TC Energies that the village may install temporary crossing mats and limited temporary crossings to support improvements and maintenance.
Staff traced the project’s history back to 2023 and said wetland delineation had been completed but progress has been slow. Temporary vehicle mats and engineered crossings will allow equipment access for initial brushing, tree removal and placement of fill in non‑wetland areas, staff said. “Jess did receive confirmation from TC Energies today that we can move forward with the temporary installations… as far as the mats,” staff reported.
Committee members noted volunteer involvement has declined and the village will likely need to pick up more maintenance tasks. Staff said once mats and initial improvements are in place, maintaining the course should be easier and volunteer groups may reengage.
