Bayview residents told ramp removal is not the waterways board's decision; calls for no-wake zones raised

Doug Harris told the board that about 31 Bayview residents attended a December Waterways Advisory Board meeting to press the county about the Bayview launch ramp; residents were concerned they had been told the ramp might be removed.
"We had 31 residents from the Bayview area arrive at our meeting," Harris said. He told the commissioners the group wanted to ensure the ramp remained accessible and emphasized the ramp's value to the Bayview community.
Harris said the advisory board clarified that decisions about the ramp involve the highway department and county processes, not the advisory board's direct authority, and that county staff ("Nick") is working on a longer-term solution. Residents also raised requests to expand no-wake zones on some smaller waterways and sections of the Spokane River; the advisory board noted Bayview already is a no-wake zone but other stretches were discussed.
Outcome: Commissioners acknowledged the concerns and heard the report; no formal action was taken at the Feb. 24 meeting and staff follow-up was described as ongoing.
