Jamie Lineberger was sworn in and elected chair of the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners at a joint meeting with the planning board in December 2024. Commissioners Mark Mullen, Trent Carpenter and Alex Padden were inducted earlier in the session, and an oath of office was administered by Jennifer Farmer, the clerk to the board.
Lineberger, after accepting the chair, opened nominations for vice chair and Bud Susina was nominated and confirmed by voice vote. The board also unanimously adopted the evening’s agenda.
The meeting included recognition of outgoing commissioners Kathy Davis, Anita McCall and Carol Mitchum, each presented with plaques and invited to speak about their service. Davis and McCall thanked staff and residents; McCall noted work on animal services and the opioid settlement committee and said the county will receive settlement funds through 2028 (amount not stated in the record).
In other organizational business, the board unanimously appointed Jamie Hauser as chairman of the Lincoln County ABC board. Toward the end of the agenda the board voted to enter a closed session under North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11(a)(3) to consult with counsel; after returning the board reported no action taken and adjourned.
The new leadership will preside over upcoming planning and county business; the planning board will deliberate and forward recommendations at its next meeting on December 16, 2024.
