Lincoln County recognizes three employees and hears 4‑H youth presentations

Employee awards: County staff presented a 2024 rookie‑of‑the‑year honor to Jeff Lovelace for leading a major network replacement and supporting emergency‑services connectivity. Matthew Hillman, identified in the presentation as the DSS director, and Joshua (Josh) Holland were named outstanding employees for leadership, cross‑department support and on‑the‑ground emergency work following Hurricane Helene. Recipients thanked their colleagues and families; Jeff Lovelace said he is “born and raised here” and appreciates working for Lincoln County.
4‑H annual jubilee: Sarah Gales, 4‑H program assistant, presented highlights from the 4‑H year and introduced several youth who described leadership, livestock and gardening projects, community service drives and state‑level participation. Gales said the program provided educational programming to more than 4,300 youth across clubs, camps and school enrichment efforts and thanked county commissioners and volunteers for support.
Commissioners and the county manager praised honorees and youth for their service and commitment to the community. Staff said the employee recognitions were selected by peer review and will continue as an annual practice to highlight county staff contributions.
