Little Egg Harbor Township board places electronic‑communication policy on first reading, approves routine finance and personnel items

At the start of the work session, a committee member reported that the policy committee has revised policy 5516 (electronic communication and recording devices) and placed the revision on the agenda for a first reading. "The policy committee met … we revised we added language to an older policy, 5516 ... The first read is on the agenda for you guys," the committee member said.

Board members discussed scheduling for the annual reorganization meeting and tentatively agreed to hold the reorganization session on January 7, with a public session to follow. The chair instructed staff to poll members on the exact time, noting the goal of accommodating families and board members' schedules.

The board then moved through a series of routine action items. Finance items A–F, facility items A–B, school‑business nonpersonal items A–H, personal (personnel) items A–H, and superintendent nonpersonal items H–L were each moved, seconded and approved by roll call.

During those votes members raised operational questions: the preschool program plan and whether a lead teacher position would be replaced or posted, and clarifications about an NTSS coordinator role. The chair and business staff said vacant or reallocated roles would be posted as appropriate.

A representative from the auditor’s firm briefed the board on fiscal results during the meeting; the board concluded the session by opening the floor for public comment and adjourning after hearing community remarks. The board scheduled the next meeting for Dec. 12 (work session 6:00 p.m., public 7:00 p.m.).
