DDA hears business openings and construction updates, road diet pilot planned for fall

Staff provided a roundup of development activity in the DDA district and said the DDA will receive further planning materials next month.
"We've got 150 North Main. Demolition will begin. Most of the utility shutoffs are complete," said Staff member, describing the former PNC location where fencing has gone up. Staff also reported that renovation permits have been submitted for 40 West Dodge Main (the Plaza and Grill), an outdoor patio is open on weekends at 84 West 14 Mile (Pandemonium), and construction continues at Noble Village (45 East 14 Mile).
Staff said Greenlight Body Piercing is expanding into an adjacent suite and that Bramble & Thorn has applied for a certificate of occupancy. The parking committee summarized recent activity: discussion of one-hour parking signage, an in-progress metered-parking survey for businesses along the 14 Mile corridor and dumpster-enclosure recommendations pending from AEW.
The committee also described a planned road-diet pilot slated for roughly four weeks this fall, contingent on city council review. The DDA asked a member (Mr. Margulis) to serve on the infrastructure committee as the DDA representative for the pilot.
Giffels Webster will present a draft strategic plan at the September meeting; staff said the plan needs the board’s final input on mission and vision to complete the draft.
Board members were given timelines for committee walking tours and organization meetings, and staff said they will circulate committee minutes after the meeting.
