A staff member (S10) said initial grant language had been modified to be less restrictive, allowing an application once the county defines what it would do with the funds. "To apply for those funds, those funds are there…we just have to have a scope of why we're applying and what we're going to do," the staff member said.
Committee members discussed timing. The staff member noted the grant period starts July 1 and cautioned there is a potential need to reauthorize or renegotiate if the county does not submit a timely application; the transcript records a possible reauthorization risk if the process goes beyond 06/30/2026. The staff member encouraged the committee to move forward with planning, contact WEDC staff (Eva) for clarifying questions and to consider whether some funds might cover demolition or community visioning and outreach costs.
Another committee member said the application will require a development or project plan and that outreach and public‑engagement costs might be eligible in limited amounts. Committee members asked staff to continue discussions with WEDC and to return with a draft scope and cost estimate the committee could use for an application.
