Pflugerville OKs $2.82 million street-reconstruction contract for Saxony area

The Pflugerville City Council approved a $2,820,654 contract with Patent Construction LLC on Jan. 27 to complete street reconstruction package 1C in the Saxony subdivision. Assistant Director of Traffic and Transportation Danny McGee presented the project and said three bidders returned close pricing; staff recommended the low bidder.
"This project is a continuation of the work we're doing already in the Saxony subdivision," Danny McGee said, adding the same contractors are performing adjacent work and are ready to begin pre-construction as soon as the contract is executed.
Council members asked about start dates and how the reconstruction work differs from the pavement-preservation program. McGee said this contract covers reconstruction for this year and that pavement maintenance and preservation projects will be presented separately (HA5 preservation list). The council approved the motion to award the contract following a motion and second; the Chair announced the motion passed unanimously.
Staff expects the contractor to mobilize quickly and begin work after pre-construction scheduling and contract execution.
