Friends of the Library reports $10,000-plus from book sales, logs roughly 1,200 volunteer hours

Aaron Millis, president of the Friends of the Library, told the Pflugerville City Library Board the volunteer group finished a strong year of fundraising and community support.
"We raised just over $2,000" on Giving Tuesday and "this year the friends have raised over $10,000 through book sales," Millis said, adding that the organization received about $5,000 in donations. He said the Friends used funds to award $1,500 in teen volunteer awards and to contribute more than $9,000 toward library programs.
Millis said the volunteers also logged roughly 1,200 hours in 2025 after the Friends began tracking time in 30-minute increments to support upcoming grant applications. "We just wanted something that we could say and prove those are the numbers," he said.
The Friends participated in community events — including a table at the Bren Fair and a partnership with Windermere Elementary to promote the library — and plan another book sale on January 29. Millis outlined the group's leadership for the coming year and invited questions from the board before concluding the report.
The board did not take formal action on the Friends’ report; it was presented for information and planning.
