The Pflugerville Planning and Zoning Commission voted to rezone an approximately 2-acre parcel on the east side of Weiss Lane from Light Industrial to General Business 1, a change staff said would allow neighborhood retail and office uses intended to serve nearby residential areas.
Jeremy, the staff presenter, said the property had been previously annexed and rezoned over the years and that the General Business 1 district would permit uses such as personal services, retail sales, restaurants and daycares. "The proposed request is consistent with the comprehensive plan," Jeremy said, and staff recommended approval.
No formal objections were received in advance of the hearing, though Sarah Norman told the commission she intended to ask questions as the item progressed. Commissioners asked about adjacent warehouse and self-storage uses and whether the parcel had independent access; Jeremy explained lots have established access flags toward Weiss Lane and that common access has been plotted.
Following discussion, the commission closed the public hearing, moved to approve the rezoning and recorded no opposition on the voice vote. The item will be forwarded to City Council for final action.
