Under a motion approved by council, staff set a proposed maximum property-tax rate in support of the FY2026 budget process. The proposed voter‑approval rate was presented as 0.5350 with the maintenance-and-operations portion at 0.02500 and a debt rate of $0.2850 per $100 of assessed value. Staff reminded council that state law requires this procedural step and that the council may adopt a lower rate at the public hearing on Sept. 9 but cannot exceed the maximum set tonight.
Council approved the resolution to set the maximum and schedule the required public hearing; detailed rate calculations were provided in staff materials.
