Hall County awards Husker Highway engineering, approves building repairs and moves to vacate Pine Street for site development

Facilities staff recommended hiring Zeller Tile to clean and restore tile on the Admin Building’s second floor and replace base moldings, with a cost estimate of about $35,000. A motion to direct the facilities director to proceed and to have the chair sign the paperwork passed 7–0; commissioners also discussed carpeting options and available budget lines for carpet replacement.
Board members agreed to perform asbestos analyses for the old jail and the Health & Human Services (DHHS) building before any demolition to inform bidding and abatement planning. Staff said those analyses will allow the county to proceed with demolition design and later bid packages.
On a separate land-use item, an Olsen representative (speaker 10) described the process to vacate Pine Street’s public right-of-way and re-dedicate utility easements to preserve water, gas, fiber and other lines; the board voted to have Olsen file the application on behalf of Hall County and authorized the chair to sign related paperwork.
