The Hall County Board approved several facilities projects aimed at improving storage, accessibility and safety in county buildings.
Facilities staff presented a plan to remove non‑loadbearing interior walls in the old health department building, create a larger overhead access door at Pine and 1st Street, and open the interior for storage. The board approved the demolition proposal and authorized the chair to sign a letter agreement with O'Neil Transportation and Equipment for approximately $23,750, subject to county‑attorney review where noted.
Commissioners also approved a carpet‑tile replacement project for the Administration Building, directing staff (Dune) to use resealable glue tile similar to samples installed in the clerk’s office and to fund the line item from ARPA dollars. Product estimates discussed in the meeting placed material cost near $30 per square yard and labor roughly $22,000 for installation of approximately 8,000 square feet.
During demolition work, contractors discovered additional asbestos under paneling. The board approved a change order increasing the demolition contract by $10,800 to cover abatement work and authorized the chair to sign the change order after review; inspections and testing were reported complete.
Board members asked staff to coordinate any mural or exterior finishes with door placement and to confirm ARPA budget availability before proceeding with larger finishes.
