The board also authorized county juvenile services to apply for Nebraska Crime Commission funds to support a high-school interventionist. Commissioners voted unanimously to allow the chair to sign the supplemental application.
On procurement and operations, the board opened a single proposal for the assessor's rural outbuildings review from Standard Appraisal Services of Central City; the proposal came in at $168,100 and the board directed staff to bring a contract forward at a subsequent meeting. Commissioners approved the low bid for carpet for the administration building and awarded a lease for a Caterpillar skidsteer at $8,600 after staff recommended the Cat machine to maintain compatibility with county attachments.
The roads director set a bid letting for five miles of asphalt on Husker Highway (project C-40(550)) for Nov. 5 with bids due earlier that day. Facilities staff won board approval to proceed with amendments to the Olsen contract to prepare demolition specifications and set an asbestos abatement bid opening for Dec. 3 at 9:30 a.m.
