The Hall County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to provisionally approve the tax rates the county has received and authorized an executive review of missing certifications before the Oct. 20 filing deadline.
Clerk (speaker 4) told commissioners she had reviewed the rates she had and cross-checked them against submitted budget documents for school districts and fire districts. Commissioners noted that certifications from roughly five joint entities — including several school districts — were still outstanding and said those should be checked before final filing.
“Once I do mine, then I have to send certifications to the other counties that have any joint district valuations,” the clerk said, describing the cross‑check process.
Commissioner (speaker 6) moved to approve the proposed rates now on file and to authorize the executive committee and the board assistant to double-check incoming rates over the next two weeks and ratify them before the October 20 deadline; the motion was seconded and passed 7-0.
Why it matters: county tax rates depend on accurate certifications from joint entities; the board’s approach allows routine administrative follow-up while meeting the state filing deadline. The board said it will ratify any changes after the executive review.
Next steps: the clerk’s office and the executive committee will confirm outstanding certifications; the board will ratify final rates at or before the Oct. 20 filing date.
