City manager reschedules Party in the Park, lists summer events and road work

City Manager Don Jones told the Forest Park City Council on July 15 that the Party in the Park concert scheduled for the next day was being rescheduled to July 23 due to an expected severe thunderstorm and encouraged residents to attend when the event is rescheduled.
Jones reviewed upcoming events and community offerings: Jazz in the Park on Saturday, Aug. 3; Family Food Truck and Movie Night on July 25 (movie: Inside Out; free, Central Park); and a roller-skating event at Central Park on Aug. 15 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., including skate rentals, music and a waiver requirement for minors.
Jones also announced Ken Road repaving that will begin soon and last approximately three to four weeks depending on weather. He reminded residents short-term rentals (Airbnb/VRBO) are not permitted in the city unless approved through the planning commission and asked residents to report suspected illegal short-term rentals to City Hall.
On parking safety, Jones reiterated that blocking sidewalks is illegal and dangerous and asked residents to avoid parking too close to corners or driveways. "Don't block the driveways for the kids or the sidewalks for the kids," he said, emphasizing safety and neighborly consideration.
The city clerk confirmed that an ordinance addressing parking too close to intersections would be before council that evening.
