Nixa approves contract with KCI Construction to install 10-inch North Main waterline

The Nixa City Council approved resolution 20-26-08 authorizing the city administrator to execute a contract with KCI Construction to install a 10-inch water line along North Main Street.
Street Superintendent Jeff Rissau explained the water line had originally been part of the Main Street project but was removed from the state transportation block grant bid because a public utility did not qualify for the grant funds. KCI was the low bidder for the water-line work, and staff requested authority to enter a separate agreement with KCI so the water line can be installed in conjunction with the road project.
Rissau told the council the department has adequate funding in its budget to complete the work and there is no need for a budget amendment. After a brief public-hearing period with no speakers, the council moved and approved the resolution by voice vote.
The contract approval will allow the water-line work to proceed alongside the road improvements on North Main, aligning construction timing for efficiency.
