Dickinson supervisors set March levy hearing, approve treasurer report and routine claims

At the Feb. 24 meeting, the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors set a separate public hearing on the proposed property tax levy for March 23, 2026, at 9 a.m. The board noted the levy hearing must be separate from a regular board meeting.
The board approved routine business: claims and small abatements, including one abatement discussed for a travel-trailer-related parcel (small-dollar amounts described in the record) and a citizen tax rebate request for roughly $928. The treasurer’s semiannual report and bank reconciliation for December 2025 were presented, discussed and approved; the auditor will review these reports during the annual audit process.
Supervisors also reviewed the county’s investment policy and confirmed there were no changes; staff said the policy follows the Code of Iowa and restricts investments to safe vehicles (U.S. obligations, CDs, IPATE, prime bankers’ acceptances and commercial paper). The board approved continuing with the current investment policy.
Motions for the levy hearing date, approval of claims, abatements and the treasurer’s report carried by voice votes.
