District officials emphasized the arrangement would be a trial for the remainder of the season rather than a permanent move. "Let's just see how it works and feel it out," a committee member said, recommending a short-term trial and operational review.
Board members raised transportation and scheduling questions. One committee member said junior-high students would fall under the district's responsibility for transportation and suggested the district could meet needs with a mid-size bus and a suburban vehicle rather than hiring a full bus and driver. "We would need to provide transportation," another member said.
Cost and timing were discussed but not finalized. Board members noted existing alternatives and referenced a $5,000-per-year figure previously discussed for renting gym space elsewhere, but no fee agreement for the Bridal facility was approved at the meeting.
Chair proposed that several board members tour the facility within days and reconvene in a special meeting to vote after the tour. "See if you can get Nathan and Wade and yourself over there as soon as possible and get back to me and we'll try to give the 24-hour notice and have a special board meeting," the Chair said. The board agreed to table the item for tonight and pursue the site visit.
Next steps: the board will conduct a tour of the Bridal facility, collect staff and coach feedback, clarify transportation logistics, and consider a follow-up special meeting to vote.
