Ben Prince, speaking for the district’s energy committee, briefed the Facilities Committee on recent conference participation and grant research. Prince said staff attended sessions on AI and energy management, infrastructure mapping, Palmetto Air Quality Collaborative and funding opportunities from the South Carolina Energy Office.
Prince said the district is investigating several grant opportunities through the South Carolina Energy Office and that systems analyst Bobby Antonucci and maintenance coordinator Terry Hux participated in conference sessions. “We will keep you updated as we progress through the grant process,” Prince said.
Committee members asked whether the district was pursuing other federal grants such as Department of Energy programs; members also recalled the district’s prior energy department and historical annual savings reports. Prince confirmed the initial grant activity referenced was through the South Carolina Energy Office but said staff would continue to look for additional opportunities and focus on high-impact projects such as HVAC replacements.
Next steps: staff will continue grant research, prioritize HVAC projects for early return on investment, and report updates to the committee.
