District secures architect and builders for Saint James Elementary replacement; capital projects proceed on schedule

Ben Prince, representing the district’s operations division, told the Facilities Committee the district has secured both the architect and construction teams for the Saint James Elementary replacement and is coordinating with learning services and the school principal on planning.
“We have now secured both our architect and construction teams for the Saint James Elementary replacement school,” Prince said, and confirmed that on Dec. 2 a cross‑functional team will visit Richland School District Two in Columbia to study recent replacement‑school work.
Prince also presented a capital projects update video. A district presenter reported progress at Aynor High and Conway High, where baseball and softball stadium structures are dried in, seating and press boxes are scheduled for installation, roofing replacement at Aynor is ongoing, and Carolina Forest High’s new buildings (including a nearly completed facility described as a ‘bee house’) will let classes move out of modular units into classrooms.
Board members thanked staff for steady progress and asked about budget status; Prince said projects are “within budget” at this time. Members noted weather-related scheduling advantages and a high level of coordination across projects.
Next steps: staff will continue monitoring schedules and budgets and report back as projects move to installation and occupancy milestones.
