Board posts surveillance and vehicle-assignment policies and reviews HR-related policies for public comment

Board members reviewed several policies during the meeting and voted to post them for public comment.
Policy 10-60 (electronic audio and video surveillance) was presented by Larry Titus with transportation director Kevin Hook answering operational questions. Hook said 210 new camera systems were installed on buses and footage is retained on a local hard drive that overwrites after roughly six weeks (2 TB) unless a school or law enforcement requests a copy and it is saved to server/cloud or moved to a thumb drive for the state's attorney.
Policy 55-60 (assignment and use of board-owned vehicles) clarified definitions for alternative transportation vehicles and multifunction school activity buses (MFSABs). COO Susan Johnson explained that McKinney-Vento grant-funded SUVs may be used to transport up to 9 passengers for homeless-student pickups when necessary, but MFSABs (14-passenger white buses) cannot be used for home-to-school transport because federal rules limit non-yellow vehicles for home transport to vehicles of fewer than 10 passengers.
Zach Sewell, the HR director, reviewed two HR policies—60-70 (attendance, leave and unauthorized leave) and 61-21 (certification/licensure for support employees). Sewell recommended minor definitional adjustments and noted leave-donation matters are governed by negotiated agreements. Several policies will be posted for up to 30 days to solicit public comment and feedback.
