Resident urges safer pedestrian and bike infrastructure on Pearl and invites public walk

"A lack of pedestrian path, sidewalk, bike lane, or really any kind of striping... makes it for some really unsafe conditions for both pedestrians and drivers," Freeman said, describing Pearl as a likely future collector road that will see more traffic as the city grows. Freeman identified himself as part of Walkable Nacogdoches, described a community survey that will run through the end of the month and announced a public walk scheduled for March 21 at 5:30 p.m. He encouraged residents to follow the group's page on Facebook and to share feedback for the city's redesign process.
The comment was part of the meeting's open forum; no formal council action was taken during the public comment period.
