The Nacogdoches City Council approved a design‑build contract with Craftsman Commercial Playgrounds for up to $180,000 to replace the aging spray station at Temple Park, Community Services Director Jessica South told the council.
"This is to replace the current spray station we have over at Temple Park," South said, describing the project as funded through the city's capital improvement plan rather than by bond proceeds. She said the old equipment, installed in about 2000, had exceeded its useful life and that the new splash pad will use a non‑recirculating system that drains to the city sewer rather than into a chlorine‑treated tank, which staff said should avoid the operational problems experienced at Maroney Park.
South estimated the project will take about 180 days depending on selected features. Council approved the contract by motion and voice vote.
