Webster board accepts nurse resignation, hires replacements and discusses CTE wing change orders

The Webster Area School Board on Thursday accepted the resignation of school nurse Heather Gajkowski, approved a contract for a replacement nurse, and voted on multiple personnel and construction items.
The board formally accepted Gajkowski’s resignation effective Nov. 4, 2025 and thanked her for her service. The board announced interim coverage had been arranged and later approved a contract for Kelsey Letcher as the district’s new school nurse; the district described Letcher’s start date as approximately Nov. 24, 2025 while it finalizes scheduling.
In other personnel action, the board approved a contract for Christian Skidy as a full-time custodian. The board also voted to table contracts for Spencer Rausch, Alicia Garrett and Savannah Rysloff for later consideration. The board canvassed and approved election results as presented by the election board.
On procurement and construction, members discussed an unresolved change order related to repair or replacement of an east wall in the district’s CTE wing. Administrators said engineers and contractors found structural issues after removing a header, that shoring and additional work had been performed, and that the initial estimate was preliminary and not a final price. Trustees emphasized they would not sign change orders without returning them to the board for approval and asked the buildings and grounds committee to attend construction meetings to monitor progress.
A board member raised an abstention question in the consent claims vote: one trustee recused themself from a payment to JDH Construction because the trustee is a subcontractor to that company; the remainder of the claims motion carried.
What happens next: administrators said they are waiting on engineering reports and firm quotes before any change orders are finalized; the buildings and grounds committee will follow up with contractors and engineers and return recommendations to the full board before additional approvals.
