For Shea High School, the committee voted to authorize a request for proposals for fire‑code and sprinkler upgrades (item C).
A committee member summarized the multi‑year district effort and the remaining work: in a 2018 assessment the district identified 233 fire‑protection and life‑safety deficiencies; committee members said only 33 items remained outstanding and that the approvals will allow second‑shift, weekend, and summer work to complete remaining items before the next school year.
Votes and procedure: each of these items was moved, seconded and put to roll‑call vote. The clerk recorded members’ responses; the motions passed and work is slated to begin immediately with completion targeted before the next school year, per district staff.
What’s next: district staff will coordinate with the Pawtucket Fire Department and contractors on sequencing and scheduling, and return to the committee with implementation updates as needed.
