The Middlesex County superintendent announced a subscription partnership with the Cook Center for Human Development to expand family mental-health supports at no cost to families and staff.
The superintendent described the Cook Center as a nonprofit that provides research-backed resources and said the district will have access to parentguidance.org, on-demand parenting sessions taught by licensed therapists, an "ask a therapist" Q&A, and monthly webinars addressing topics such as emotional regulation, anxiety, ADHD, bullying, substance use and vaping. "Parents or staff members can sign up for one-on-one parent coaching with cognitive behavioral coaches," the superintendent said, adding that individuals may register anonymously and that the district will only receive aggregate counts that a Middlesex registrant enrolled.
The superintendent said the division will publicize the resource at open houses and through counselors and that professional-development components for staff will be phased in during the school year as needs are identified.
