Board says football scoreboard will be funded but won’t arrive until spring

The administrator told the board the district transferred $16,500 from a football account into a project account earmarked for the scoreboard and added $1,000 from boosters and $1,000 from the student athletics account, which together will cover a portion of the planned purchase. "I had Dan and John Lumsden approve a transfer of the $16,500 from the football account into a general fund earmarked account with this football scoreboard project account code and also 1000 dollars from boosters and 1000 dollars from the student athletics account," the administrator said during the meeting.
Why it matters: parents and boosters raised concerns after the earlier conversation about how the purchase and communication were handled. The administrator said the board and administration met with parents and coaches, offered an apology and outlined new processes meant to prevent similar lapses.

What’s next: the administrator said the project will come back to the facilities task force and then return to the board with updated quotes and contractor information before a final purchase is made. The board did not take formal action on the scoreboard at the meeting beyond receiving the update.
