She said the district has reduced expenditures through attrition and limited out-of-class staff time and now projects carrying over roughly $1,000,000 to the next fiscal year (the original adopted budget projection showed about an $800,000 deficit earlier in the year).
Rodriguez said the district’s state audit is in progress and that central-services reorganization and a staffing model aimed at stabilizing positions are underway. She said the district will post new administrative positions in the coming week and anticipates bringing a resolution for a minimal reduction in force to the March 11 board meeting; she described the staffing plan as a draft subject to change.
Finally, the chair moved that the board take a five-minute recess and enter an executive session for 45 minutes to review employee performance under RCW 42.30.110(1)(g) and the sale or lease of agency real estate under RCW 42.30.110(1)(c).
Motions and votes recorded at the meeting included adoption of the consent agenda, policy 43.10, the youth arts resolution, and approval of the recess and executive-session motion. Where votes were taken, board members answered "Aye," indicating unanimous approval in each instance reported on the record.
