Warren County School Board appoints Dr. Troy Wright as division superintendent

The Warren County School Board on Nov. 5 appointed Dr. Troy Wright as the division’s next superintendent, voting unanimously to approve his employment contract and set his start date for Dec. 1, 2025.

Board members described a collaborative search and expressed confidence in Wright’s experience and fit for the district. A board member who moved the appointment said the board was “in unison” in hiring Wright and cited his “warm personality, sense of humor [and] extensive experience,” and another called the appointment “a very pivotal and hopeful moment for our school division.”

Dr. Wright, who will take over from acting superintendent Dr. Martin, thanked the board and community and said he and his family were “very excited for this opportunity to come to Warren County” and to “pour into the community, into the school system.” He acknowledged Dr. Martin’s role as a mentor and said he looked forward to working with staff and residents during the transition.

The board’s roll-call vote on the appointment recorded aye votes from Missus Salins, the chair, Mister McFadden, Missus Lowe and Doctor Funk. Board members emphasized a shared hiring process that included multiple interview rounds and input from a candidate review process.

Acting Superintendent Dr. Martin read a public letter at the meeting offering advice to the incoming superintendent and praising central-office and school staff for their work. The board also used the meeting to recognize attendance achievements at three schools and to accept a donation of four portable AED units from the Student Angel Network for placement at district sites.

The appointment is effective Dec. 1, 2025; the board did not specify further contract financial details at the public meeting.
