Reid recommended awarding the contract to the lowest responsive bidder, Bridgestone Construction, in the amount of $62,995.39 for work to combine two classrooms into a single lab‑school space, reconfigure egress, coordinate flooring and ceilings, and repaint. The board approved the award 5‑0.
Pleasant Valley Elementary — VDOT easement: Reid briefed the board on VDOT’s plans to widen I‑81, which require temporary and permanent easements, a construction laydown area and utility easements on Pleasant Valley Elementary property. Negotiations produced roughly $123,000 in compensation, and Dr. Shiflett recommended approval. The board voted 5‑0 to approve the easements.
Land transfer for pump station: Reid recommended transferring 0.423 acres from Montevideo Middle School to Rockingham County to regularize deed ownership of a newly constructed public‑works domestic water pump station. The board approved the transfer 5‑0.
