The Mount Horeb Area School District board approved a resolution to participate in the 2024–25 Wisconsin School Nutrition Purchasing Cooperative, which pools purchasing power for food commodities and related supplies used in school meal programs.
Superintendent Dr. Sarno described the cooperative as an efficiency measure and said it produces savings for the district. "We find it produces some great savings," he said and specifically praised Michelle Dink, the district’s director of school nutrition, for her work overseeing the program. (Dr. Sarno)
A board member moved and seconded the resolution and the board approved the cooperative participation by voice vote. Board discussion referenced prorated participation costs noted in the meeting materials and the administrative efficiency that cooperative membership provides.
