Board highlights student spotlights and math-team achievements

The Mount Horeb Area School District board opened its meeting by recognizing student achievements. The board presented certificates of appreciation to middle-school student Emma Pearson and high-school junior Alexa Bassett for leadership in student government, extracurricular activities and community involvement.
Teachers and board members read comments praising the students' contributions to school climate, performing arts, athletics and leadership in student organizations. The board also recognized several staff members—named in the meeting as Kim Tucker and Chris Farrell—for their work in the middle school.
Separately, the board honored local math teams: multiple elementary and middle-school teams placed at regional competitions and qualified for the larger "mega meet" events at Madison College and UW–Madison. Individual top scorers were named during the presentation and certificates were prepared by the board.
The board paused for photos and thanked families and staff for their support.
