Mineral Point board sets 2024–25 calendar, confirms officers and keeps stipends unchanged

The Mineral Point Unified School District board held its annual organizational meeting and confirmed officer appointments, approved a draft calendar of meetings for 2024–25 and voted to maintain the current $600 annual stipend for trustees.

Board President said the board would move forward with a proposed schedule that keeps regular meetings on second Mondays while scheduling an October meeting to certify the levy and a Dec. 9 meeting at 5 p.m. to accommodate evening school concerts. "We'll move forward with that schedule as proposed," the Board President said.

The board conducted voice nominations and votes for officers, approving Aaron Dunn as president and confirming vice president, clerk and treasurer nominations as presented. Trustees discussed shifting the formal organizational oath and officer appointments from May to the April oath-taking meeting so newly sworn members could conduct organizational business at the same time.

Members debated whether to revisit trustee stipend amounts later, citing recruitment and family-cost considerations. One trustee noted the stipend is not the reason people run but acknowledged expenses such as childcare and meals. After discussion the board approved retaining the current stipend level by voice vote.
