Lewis Central board outlines bond outreach, offers satellite voting at Titan Hill

The Lewis Central Community School District on Oct. 7 received an update on bond outreach and a schedule of public sessions ahead of the Nov. 5 bond election.

Superintendent reported the district will hold a final informational session Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the middle school multipurpose room and described changes to the mailed materials—presenting a single, clearer initiative rather than multiple packages. The superintendent said that approach and a lower per-household tax estimate have made the proposal easier for residents to understand.

The district will host a satellite voting site at Titan Hill intermediate school on Thursday, Oct. 24, from noon to 6 p.m. The superintendent said the satellite site will provide the full ballot to any Lewis Central district resident who wishes to use it; the county operates the voting site and no volunteers are required. "If November 5 doesn't work out for you to get out and vote, this is just another opportunity," the superintendent said.

Board members asked procedural questions about hours and logistics; staff said the county runs the operation. The superintendent said the district’s informal target for turnout at the site is 500 voters but acknowledged county officials expect far fewer satellite ballots. The board did not take a vote on the bond at the meeting; it continues outreach and informational sessions ahead of the election.

The board listed additional dates: a bond informational session on Oct. 9 (7 p.m.), the satellite voting on Oct. 24 (noon–6 p.m.), and the bond election on Nov. 5. The superintendent encouraged residents attending parent–teacher conferences to use the satellite site.
