Board opens negotiations to offer Vicki Beyer a superintendent contract

The Green Bay Area Public School District board voted Nov. 11 to authorize negotiations to offer Vicki Beyer a contract to serve as superintendent.

A board member moved to “offer a contract subject to negotiations of such terms” for Beyer, a procedural step the chair described as the first in a multi-step process. “This is a procedural vote tonight, just to open up negotiation discussions,” the chair said. He told members that outside counsel will conduct negotiations and any completed contract will be brought back to the full board for a vote at a subsequent meeting.

Several trustees asked whether they would see a draft contract before that upcoming meeting. The chair said board members would review the contract before a vote but could not provide a precise timeline, adding that the timing depends on progress during the weeks leading up to the next meeting.

The motion passed by online vote; the clerk announced that “all votes have been entered and the motion is carried with all board members voting in favor.” A prior personnel vote at the start of the special meeting also carried unanimously.

Next steps: outside counsel will negotiate contract language; the board will review a completed contract and vote to finalize it at a future regular meeting.
