During the PTO report, Abby Sankey, PTO vice president, described planned back-to-school events and a drive to refresh the PTO email list to recruit volunteers. "We're gonna go to the playground at the elementary school," Sankey said, outlining a play-date meetup on Aug. 12 followed by a PTO meeting.
Administrators reported a range of operational items: athletic schedules for fall sports, social-media outreach and a DPI Innovation Grant that produced a student demonstration-of-learning action plan. The administration also thanked community groups that offered to donate a heavy-duty washer and dryer for athletic teams and said it is coordinating a ribbon-cutting for a STEAM addition.
On purchasing, the board discussed the annual milk bid and noted only one bidder responded. Members asked whether the vendor-provided coolers remain under vendor responsibility and acknowledged food-service fund balance could cover replacements if needed. The single milk bid was approved by motion.
The board approved proposed meal and milk price updates for the coming school year as presented and adopted a new district learner profile created from staff and parent input; the administration said it will develop metrics to measure the profile's characteristics across classrooms.
A proposed van purchase was tabled so administrators can confirm donor funding and obtain final dealer pricing; the board asked that the item return to the next meeting for formal action.
Before adjourning to closed session for personnel and contract matters, the board set next meeting dates and moved to close under state statutes to discuss employment, wages and transportation contract recommendations.
