District to seek board approval for expanded school-based mental health services at Spooner High School

Ms. Myers said the expansion would provide services one day a week, serving roughly 10 students (possibly biweekly depending on need), and would be funded by the grant for up to five years.
Services would be delivered on-site during the school day; families must sign a release of information for students referred through school staff. Ms. Myers said the program aims to reduce access barriers in the region, where long wait lists and transportation complicate families' ability to reach outside providers. District administrators said MOUs already exist with several providers and that the new arrangement with Northwest Passage would be a separate MOU covering this expansion.
Board members asked for a list of current MOUs; Ms. Myers and administration agreed to provide the roster to board members. The committee voiced support and gave consensus to forward the expansion to the regular board meeting for formal action. Ms. Myers said the partner was ready to begin services in November if the board approves.
